I was bouldering with some friends at Planet Granite in Sunnyvale, CA. It was a holiday so it was pretty busy, but we found a little bit of wall for ourselves and got to working on a problem together. While grappling with this wall, a man that I would guess to be in his fifties came over to do the same.
I don’t have a lot of space over here in Japan, so every time I move my office/gym I have to re-evaluate my equipment. This was especially true last month since I moved into yet another new gym. It is freaking awesome and you’ll be seeing a lot of new vids of it soon.
What are my mainstays when it comes to gym equipment?
This year was a busy one for GMB Fitness! Here’s some of the best stuff we made in 2018.
Today I felt like seeing how many different ways I could stay in a low gait stance and move around. I think I can confidently say that I did, “all the squats”. Who needs a workout when you can play.
Last week I had the privilege of sitting down with Sonja Smith of Handstand Diary to discuss the GMB method and my thoughts on handstand training.
I’ve been doing a lot of international travel recently so I took this week off from all physical activities, including Brazilian jiu jitsu. You know things are serious when I cancels The Jits!
Every weekend I wake up at 5am to take my daughter to her swimming practice. Rather than head back to bed, I head to the gym and get some work done. Here’s a run-down of my Dan John-inspired workout session from last Saturday.
Just a short train ride from the bustle and noise of downtown Osaka is a dappled, maple mountain range called Minoh. It’s the perfect get-away for me when I need to step out of the craziness of the city and recharge my batteries. I try to do this hike a couple times a month with my dog, Bree, and get a bit of shinrin-yoku “forest bathing” in. This last trip out was after a major typhoon hit the Osaka region. The forest had taken quite a beating!
As usual, we had the whole area to ourselves; no monkeys, no tourists. Those things scare me! The monkeys, I mean. 🙂
